K2 Construction Management (K2CM) has announced a leadership transition as founder John Setra steps back from his operational role after 25 years leading the business.
As K2CM approaches its 25th anniversary, Steve Porter has been appointed Managing Director and will lead the firm into its next phase of growth.
John founded the business in 2001, building K2CM into a respected construction management and consultancy practice delivering projects across healthcare, residential, commercial and major industrial sectors. Today the business forms part of HanmiGlobal’s international platform alongside UK consultancy Walker Sime.
In recent years the company has been involved in several significant developments, including the SeAH Wind monopile manufacturing facility at Teesworks, one of the largest industrial investments in the UK in recent decades.
Steve Porter has played a key role in the delivery of several of the firm’s flagship projects and has been instrumental in developing its Construction Management capability across complex programmes.
Speaking about the transition, John Setra, Founder of K2CM, said: “K2 has been a huge part of my life for the last 25 years and I’m incredibly proud of what the business and the team has become.
Steve knows the company extremely well and has already played an important role in many of our major projects. I’m confident the business will continue to grow and succeed under his leadership.”
Steve Porter, Managing Director of K2CM, said: “John has built something very special, and it’s been a pleasure working with him for many years. I’m extremely grateful for the trust he and HanmiGlobal have placed in me to lead the business into its next chapter.
We have a fantastic team, strong client relationships and some exciting opportunities ahead. I’m looking forward to building on that foundation and continuing to grow K2CM.”
CK Han, Vice President at Hanmi Global, said: “Under John’s leadership, K2 Construction Management has established a strong reputation in the UK for delivering complex projects and supporting clients on technically demanding developments.
Steve brings deep experience and a clear understanding of both the business and the wider market. We look forward to continuing our close collaboration as K2CM strengthens its Construction Management capability and supports major projects across sectors including healthcare, advanced manufacturing and energy transition.”
The transition comes as the company continues to strengthen its position in the UK market and further develop its Construction Management capability.
