The ESI Onshore Transmission Package, forming part of Project Seagreen, is a critical element in the delivery of the 1.075GW offshore windfarm. It involved major groundworks along a 19km route. The package included multiple key landowners, from world famous Carnoustie Golf Links to government bodies and major agricultural suppliers to the UK food industry.

K2CM played a key role in supporting the client , managing the contractor, undertaking risk management and tracking programme delivery. K2CM actively managed multiple risks on the project – from the management of biosecurity protocols, interfacing with drainage teams and managing utility interfaces along the cable route.

Wind Turbine Facility

Port of Sheerness is a major port on the South-East coast of England. It’s ideally located as a base for Wind Turbine Manufacturers (WTM) who are looking to capitalise on the areas of Offshore Wind Farms allocated by the Crown Estate.

K2CM were appointed to assist in negotiations with the major manufacturers and develop the most economical infrastructure solution. A major offshore windfarm developer expressed their intention to build a fully integrated offshore wind turbine manufacturing facility at the Port of Sheerness.

K2CM provided project and cost management services which involved procuring the design and planning teams and working with developer to agree the most cost-effective method of meeting their needs. The work included the strengthening of the quays, creation of new quays, demolition of some existing buildings, construction of new buildings for blade manufacture, component assembly and associated facilities, reconfiguration of existing Port operation, and upgrading of incoming services. K2 managed the extensive surveys, reports, design, and stakeholder consultation which led to permission being granted from Swale Borough Council.
